The best pick your own fruit farms to head to this summer in Scotland



IDEANEWSINDO.COM - One of the summer's great pleasures, picking your own fruit is a fun and rewarding way to while away an afternoon.

Scotland is home to some incredible soft fruit producers and many farms will allow you to grab a basket and head out onto their farms to pick the juiciest berries to take home with you.

All across the country, there are plenty of places to go, and with that in mind we've picked out some of the best for you to enjoy some fruit picking of your own.

Most places will expect you to book in advance so it is worth bearing that in mind before heading out.

Cairnie Fruit Farm, Cupar, Fife

Running over summer, you can pick your own Strawberries, Raspberries, Redcurrants and Blackcurrants, as well as Gooseberries and Cherries.

You can pick from June to September but when you arrive you only pay for what you pick.

East Yonderton Farm, Renfrew

Found at Inchannan, this brilliant little farm is great for picking Strawberries, Gooseberries, Raspberries, Blackcurrants, Redcurrants and Blackberries. They also have veg available.

Open seven days a week, you can pick any fruit in season.

Border Berries, Kelso

Opening around 25th June, one of Scotland’s oldest, family-run fruit farms is a big hit with fruit pickers.

You can grab blackcurrants, redcurrants, raspberries and strawberries.

Charleton Fruit Farm, Montrose

Fruit and veg specialists Charleton Fruit Farm have a massive range of fruit available for picking including a pples, blackberries, blueberries, cherries, currants (red and black), gooseberries, pears, plums, raspberries, strawberries, and tayberries.

Their website pop-up is updated every evening and will confirm what fruit is available for the next day so you can check before heading out.

The Strawberry Barn, Dunbar

With an on-site cafe and farm shop, the Strawberry Barn is a great place to head and is one of the best places in Scotland to pick strawberries with over 25,000 strawberry plants.

West Craigie Farm Shop, South Queensferry

Hugely popular with families, West Craigie offers plenty of activities and is always a busy wee spot for fruit picking.

You'll find plenty of fruit including strawberries, raspberries, cherries, gooseberries, blackcurrants, redcurrants, brambles, tayberries.

Be warned you will need to book in advance.
