Sergio Ramos says he is 'not surprised anymore' by Lionel Messi's quality

- Paris Saint-Germain defender Sergio Ramos has said that he is not surprised anymore by the quality of Lionel Messi following the Argentine's late free-kick against Lille.

PSG looked as though they were headed for a fourth straight defeat in all competitions as they were losing 3-2 to Lille on Sunday afternoon with just a few minutes left to play.

Kylian Mbappe then grabbed his second of the game and Messi stepped up with a free-kick in stoppage time which found the bottom corner to make it 4-3 to Les Parisiens.

"I'm not surprised any more," Ramos said when asked after the hard-fought win on a day that was marked by the 'invasion' of the pitch by sporting director Luis Campos, who came down from the stands at the Parc des Princes to act as coach because the team was struggling.

"I'm no longer surprised about Messi. At Barcelona he was used to deciding games like he did today. I'm glad he's in my team now," the former Sevilla and Real Madrid player said on Amazon Prime.

The 34 games the pair have played together at the French club are enough for Ramos to admit the admiration he has for the world champion with Argentina, leaving aside the great rivalry they enjoyed in Spain from the 2005/2006 season until the 2021/2021 season.

In those 16 campaigns, the two stars met 44 times, with the Argentinian coming out on top in 19 matches, the European international winning 16 times and the two sides sharing the points nine times.
